Makerie Sewing Retreat

On Wednesday Alice and I are heading to Boulder, Colorado for the Makerie Sewing Retreat. It’s a brand new special event focusing on textiles and sewing, both hand and machine. We also have an opportunity to take four different classes throughout the weekend, providing the chance to experience a wonderful variety of projects and techniques lead by outstanding teachers. I will be attending a class on color with Amy Butler, a soft sculpture class with Tamar Mogendorff, a smocked necklace class with Liesl Gibson and a Quilting class with Heather Jones. In addition to the workshops there are activities such as wake-up yoga and hiking; plus healthy organic food to eat – my body will not know how to react, haha.

In addition to the classes, I am also looking forward to the slumber party on Saturday night. We will be making a cute shoe bag to protect our shoes and clothes from excessive activity while traveling, giving away great goodies, and one lucky attendee will win a brand new BERNINA 215.

I cannot wait to meet some new people, learn a bunch of new sewing techniques and challenge myself to doing yoga and going for a hike.

A special thanks to The Presser Foot in Longmont, Colorado for providing machines for classes and slumber party and Benartex for providing the fabric for the shoe bags.
