Peggy Johnson, Sew Creative, Peoria, IL wrote to tell me about the wine glasses she’s etching with sock monkey faces. How cool is that?! She’s using the technique John Thornton wrote about in Issue #6 of Through the Needle ONLINE magazine in June, 2011. Peggy designed and cut the stencils using her BERNINA CutWork Software and Accessory, then used etching cream to transfer the design to the glass.

The fabric for Paula Atwood’s “Wool N’ Spools” creation is reclaimed wool from old skirts, etc. that she took apart and felted in the washer. She cut out the positive/negative shapes and needle-punched them to the woolen base using BERNINA’s Needle Punch Accessory Set.
Japanese Temari Décor
I was visiting my friend Gayle and found these beautifully decorated balls all around her home. Of course I was amazed when she explained how they were created by an old Japanese art called Temari. What a great way to use up all those threads we have laying around!

Decorative Trivet
This summer I had the pleasure to co-present a class focusing on several accessories: the Binder Attachment; the Spanish Hemstitch Attachment; the Walking Foot with the new Central Guide Sole; and the Needle Punch Tool. Our project: a decorative trivet featuring a variety of stitching and embellishment techniques.
