    • Hi, neenkster – All the entries were great! It just happened that after all the points were tallied, these were the winning entries. All of the entries were submitted to the judges with no names attached. It wasn’t until after the winning entries had been decided that we found that the grand-prize-winning entry and the second-runner-up-entry were from the same person. Jo

      • Hi Jo, this makes it slightly more understandable, however I feel handing out the 3rd prize to the same person as the Grand Prize winner could definitely have been reconsidered. It’s not very motivating and fair to the other contestants. Especially since both winning fabric designs (#1 and #3) are similar style/colors/fabric line. A great Grand Prize winner, but there is no point in handing out a 2nd-runner-up prize if you hand it out all to the same person. Surely if someone wins a $5000+ (!!!) prize, the 3rd prize can be given to the 4th person.

  • Is there any way to find out what our point totals were? I am just starting with this line of design and would be interested to know what I am doing wrong or right.

    • Dear cinmc, your entries are beautiful. Thank you so much for participating in our contest.
Winning designs were chosen through a combination of number of Pinterest repins from the WeAllSew Fabric Design Contest Pinterest board and BERNINA Sewing Celebrity judges.
10 final designs were chosen out of hundreds of entries by a panel of BERNINA of America experts. The finalists were then judged on a point system by our celebrity judges. Your designs weren’t among the 10 finalists. We hope to see you again participating in our future contests. Alice

      • Thank you for taking the time to reply. I though the Pinterest repins would only determine the People’s Choice award and not affect the judges choices too. I just discovered this contest close to the deadline, so I knew there wouldn’t be a chance of many repins.
I truly enjoyed the process of design for this contest. I am a graphic artist and I now want to learn more about surface pattern design and continue experimenting in this field, so any feedback is appreciated.
        Congratulations to all the winners.

  • Congratulations to the winners, and enjoy your prizes!
I find myself in agreement with neenkster above…..it does not seem right, or fair, or in the best interest of Bernina, to give two prizes to the same person. There were so many entries that showed huge creativity and originality — especially if the entry was hand drawn, instead of created electronically — and it would seem the most positive course of action would have been when the issue was discovered, to choose an alternative fabric winner.
I simply can’t believe that once the two fabrics were discovered to have been from the same creator, that no one even thought to choose another? Wow!
These are the kinds of things that “leave a bad taste in your mouth” and make people question the fairness and ethics of the sponsoring organization. Those questions may not be well founded, but I think it’s always best to appear as fair and even handed as possible….and this doesn’t appear that way!
Congratulations to the winners, and enjoy your prizes!

    • Dear snoodles, thanks so much for your feedback. Our fans’ opinions are important to us and we will be sure to consider your thoughts in our future contests.
We hope to see you again participating in our future WeAllSew events. Alice
