This week and the following we are visiting with our next BERNINA Sewing Celebrity, Mimi Goodwin, of Los Angeles, CA. This WAS sewing expert and founder of popular blog Mimi G. Style, learned how to sew at the age of 12. Like many of us, she began her career as a young Barbie doll clothes designer using her aunt’s scraps. Seeing her excitement, her dad bought her a sewing machine, her first, and she has been hooked ever since.
Light and flowing like a summer breeze, this sheer top adds a touch of cool elegance when the weather gets hot. Casual enough for beachwear, yet stylish enough for an evening on the town, it’s an easy pick for a beautiful summer day.
Nowadays, we usually don’t sew to save money, but this is one of those times when sewing really saved! My daughter has a birthday coming up soon and we were shopping about a month ago when she found a top that she loved….it was $80.00.
For two jam-packed days at StyleX, the BERNINA Make & Take booth was buzzing with a wide range of people – from sewing machine virgins to up-and-coming fashion designers. The finished projects ranged from functional iPhone and iPad cases, to fashionably trendy mustaches all sewn on our B 380 model.
For the first time ever, BERNINA will host the first ever “Make and Take” sewing lab during the Style X Showcase at the South by Southwest® (SXSW) music festival, March 16–17, 2012 at the Austin Convention Center, Austin, Texas.
