Woodland Tote
In the Woodland Tote project we learn to apply a zipper, how to make quilted straps and how to sew with the BERNINA Walking foot #50. This tote is a perfect size bag to take just about anywhere, with an easy and convenient front zipper pocket to stash your need-to-find items quickly!
The combination of our canvas and textured denim will take your bag making to a whole new level. Add some sturdy linen straps and some quilting and you can turn the simplest bag into an attractive professional looking bag.
The Woodland Tote was sewn on a BERNINA 550 Quilters Edition and is featuring the black and white buck head canvas fabric from the Hello Bear fabric collection and textured denim fabric from The Denim Studio collection. The soft beautiful weave of our canvas fabric mixed with our new textured denims complement each other perfectly for handbag making as well as many other projects such as home décor and apparel. You can pick up these fabrics online or in your local store.

My friend and I both made this bag together. I used the exact fabrics shown in picture. I love the bag but both my friend and I had difficulty with the instructions that were given so I’m posting this hoping that you may consider going back and revising to make it clearer to understand. The main thing that was confusing was which pieces had interfacing attached to them. Would love to see more video tutorials of purses, totes or wallets!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy you and your friend made the bag! For more clarification as to what pieces need interfacing you can click on the link right above the video. It’s the written instructions and in the Cutting Direction part of the instructions you can find what fusible pieces to cut out for what piece. I hope this helps.
I love the bag but might make the rounded corners a straight across piece. I know it’s probably just me, but the corners make the zip pocket section look like a pair of underwear.
I didn’t notice it until you mentioned it, but your right!!! Maybe if it was white…
Now that you mention it I totally see it!!
Just wondering if this bag is also a good candidate for 100% cotton material, like batiks? Or, best to use the heavier weight denim as suggested in the pattern?
