The Big Book of Feet

BERNINA Big Book of Feet

It’s all about feet! If you own multiple presser feet and accessories for your machine, The Big Book of Feet can help you get the most use from them. If you don’t own many presser feet, this book offers a glimpse into all the fun you can have exploring practical techniques and creative embellishments using specialty presser feet and attachments for your BERNINA machine. This book is fun to read just to see some of the possibilities that specialty presser feet can bring to your machine. Just like reading a cookbook when most of your meals are take-out, you can whet your appetite for all things sewing with the beautiful photos and fun ideas in the pages of this book.

Feet, Accessories, and Techniques

The 250 pages of this book covers all current BERNINA presser feet and accessories with techniques, from appliqué to zippers. Find out how these feet work and why they do what they do. Most presser feet were designed for a specific reason but often have multiple uses, making them even more valuable in your sewing room. Each presser or accessory has a Technique Settings chart. The chart gives you an at-a-glance look at the settings needed for the techniques specific to the foot. Spiral-bound, the book lays flat when opened, making it useful to keep by your sewing machine. This is especially helpful when using an unfamiliar presser foot or accessory.

  • The Big Book of Feet looks as though every Bernina owner should have one but having invested heavily in two Berninas and a shed load of feet I think it should be free!

    • I agree!. I have invested over $13,000. in my Bernina 730E . I have even more if you count all of the embroidery designs. Bernina is a top machine in my eyes, but sometimes our eye see more than our “belly” can hold. I believe if Bernina invested in sending customers “freebies” once in awhile, we would buy newer machines from time to time. The “BIG BOOK OF FEET” would be an awesome way for Bernina to show us they value our business and give them out free, or give us a chance to win one.

    • Yes, I have purchased an 830 Limited Edition and an 880 Plus, and have bought additional feet. I think it should be a “gift” from Bernina. And with the list of feet and what they do, it more than likely will inspire sewers to purchase more feet.

      • I AGREE WITH YOU!! I have an 830LE and now thinking to upgrade to 880Plus, mostly because I am out of warrenty now. How do you like your 880? My 830 has not caused me any trouble so Im feeling insecure about this trade. I never learned the 830 embroidery part and not finding a shop that knows that machine now. Im ready to take classes to learn now…..

    • I agree, I can still remember when al feet that fit your machine came with it. And the manuels were so clearly written that you didn’t need classes. Don’t get me wrong I have loved my Berninas. But a lot of the add-ons and specials economically price out those on tighter budgets.

  • my foot “bible” is very well used & loved. I am glad that it has the binding. Lots of post it notes in mine as well as regular notes in it as well. It has def. been well loved.

  • I laid out plenty of money buying an 880, extra feet, extra hoops. My local Bernina store went out of business and the other one never does feature demos. The books that come with the machines offer very little help, so I get no support. The website is absolutely useless, and there used to be an app where I could track the feet I own that no longer exists. Bernina should offer this book at a huge discounted rate. It would drive business and make people purchase more accessories.

  • I agree, I have two Bernina machines and loads of feet so why isn’t this book free! Can anyone tell me what a edge stitcher plate is? I have seen it recommended for use with the walking foot. Thanks

  • I have found the Facebook group for 790 owners to be very informative and would recommend checking to see if there are other specific Bernina model groups on Facebook.

  • I agree with the above comments about the book should have been free with the purchase of a Bernina or a free gift from time to time. You spend a great deal of money for a Bernina sewing machine and it would have been a prefect item to include, free, with the purchase. I am new to Bernina and didn’t find a great deal of help with learning about the different feet (and that would be nice and I might even purchase more feet).

  • For what we spend to purchase our machines and accessories, it would benefit Bernina to give copies to us or at least charge only a nominal fee. I would most likely be inclined to purchase even more feet, if I knew more about their possible uses.

  • AAAMEN !!!!!!!!!!!… to all of you !!!!!! Since 1983, I have purchased over twelve bernina machines. The latest, the 880 and the 790. I sought help with the 880, but got nothing.
I bought the three- volume-Feetures, which was not cheap. So, we loyal Bernina owners should be rewarded. I want the new Big Book of Feet. I noticed the price is missing.

  • Yes – I agree to the above. I have a helpful Bernina dealer, but she’s 2.5 hr away.
The Big Book of Feet needs to be available in an interactive, digital format along with written book. That way one could either select a technique you wanted to use or the foot. Then the link would jump to/reference the feet / technique or method to achieve this technique. i.e. – you want to sew on cording – and the book would jump to the foot options for sewing various cording. (#12 – #22 – #25 etc) And the price needs to be affordable. Bernina would make up to cost with selling more feet.

  • Ditto to infinity what others have said! I paid a lot of money for my Bernina and extras for Embroidery. Not to mention so many feet, rulers, and specific feet for free motion/ruler work. It would benefit Bernina to offer this book to customers with the purchase of our machines. AND for those of us who have already purchased machines, accessories it should be offered at a tremendous discount. It’s sad to see the continued charges to loyal customers providing nothing as a extra incentive.

  • Another DITTO. With the high cost of a Bernina, The Bernina Book of Feet, should be a free download for EVERY Bernina owner. Bernina might sell more feet if they provided a book linked to USEFUL videos on how to use the feet. Bernina needs better marketing strategies. In addition their website should provide tutorial videos where people actually talk you through the process instead of music narration. The teaching support for Bernina has a lot to be desired. They are being outdone by their competition. I doubt if Bernina even reads these posts.

  • I would have to say I agree with most of the comments, the price of the book is crazy. It should come with your machine. Or for heaven’s sake, enter the 20th century and make it downloadable as an iBook and PDF and ePub.

  • I agree with Bernina making this free or at least at a great discount…actually I’d almost settle for my local shop to have one…But I’ve got 4 Berninas, so it’s not like I haven’t invested in Bernina…Don’t get me wrong, I love my machines, but occassionally, something this handy should be made available…I have downloaded some older booklets with “The Big Book of Feet” and I have a big feet book I got off ebay…the overall value is to know the sku number of the foot I’m interested in so I can convey that to my local shop…it’s handy also to look at the different stitches as well as the different ideas that can be applied using the different feet/tools.

  • My school bought 25 Bernina sewing machines and 5 sergers. I asked about a manual for the feet that my previous school had (at no cost). To have to pay for one when you cannot read the instruction pages (the writing is too small) is not right.
