cozy secret quilt jacket

My second quilt jacket is a mix of patterns and ideas. It is a whole cloth quilted piece with contrasting trim. I enjoyed making this every step of the way, even with so many sessions with my seam ripper! I did very quiet flame stitch quilting using the walking foot on my Bernina 570QE, which is new to me and the best machine I have ever used. I happily and quickly learned how to make buttonholes with it. So many options available! This machine is a joy, and I plan on spending many years exploring all the amazing tools and functions. My secret is that I upcycled a soft, cozy fleece blanket with minimal stretch as the quilted lining with the Hong Kong finish to all the seam allowances. The jacket is less bulky and stiff feeling than a traditional 3 layered quilted piece and it’s warm. I can’t wait to make another.
