‘Winter Tree’ entered in a modern quilt challenge at my local club

Description

I had admired the cover of a book by Gwen Marston, but I had not had a chance to see the book.  I love images of the trunk and branches of trees, so I decided to try imitating Gwen’s quilt to enter in a modern quilt challenge by Loose Threads, my local quilt club.  I used my walking foot for the quilting.  Making this quilt definitely was a challenge to my abilities, but I was pleased with the result.  All of the quilts were hung for display in our local library, and some were awarded handmade ribbons.  ‘Winter Tree’ was awarded the ‘Best Modern Quilting’ ribbon.
