Grandma’s Sewing Basket

Description

I found this cute appliqué pattern in The Big Book of Table Toppers. I couldn’t wait to make it. I used fabrics I had on hand and applied the motifs with a bonding agent and then used hand dyed flosses to blanket stitch around each piece. For the background I tried stippling for the first time. It was a great project to try first because of all the open areas. I used stitch in the ditch on each side of the first border and then marked a grid pattern on the last border. The binding was the same as the border fabric and finished it off nicely. A few buttons added and it was ready for my kitchen table.
