Ocean Thru the Window

Description

We had an old window (1940s) in the attic of our 100-year-old farmhouse that my husband wanted to use as a wall decoration. But the frame, while interesting in itself, looked incomplete when hung. So I suggested a landscape quilt technique: buy fabric that looked like the sky, fabric that looked like water and finally fabric that looked like sand. In the top row of glass panes, we mounted squares of sky fabric. In the center row of panes, we put in the water and the bottom row, the sand. It turned out spectacularly!

This hangs on our bedroom wall and looks like you are gazing out the window at the beautiful ocean! (We live in the Midwest :))
