Sewing Machine Mat with Pockets
Description
I made this sewing machine mat with pockets from a recycled class sample from an awesome modern log cabin improv class I took by Jacquie Gering, (a fantastic class!). But I wasn’t doing anything with the finished mini-quilt, and it ended up back in my UFO pile.
I used a small part of the quilt to make a pin holder for my little girl Fidget, and the rest became a base for this project. I used the same techniques learned in the class to create the pockets and the pincushion. Now it’s something useful, and I almost have too much storage space with all of those pockets! Is that even possible – too much space for sewing notions and tools? 🙂

Hi pam607, I made this sewing machine mat from a UFO, sort of as a sew-as-you-go way to recycle a small sampler quilt. I did not use a particular pattern, but rather took a look around at pictures on the internet to make this for myself. Happy sewing! – Erika
