Who Would Have Thought?!
Description
For these blocks, I used the 1D presser foot and straight stitch plate. I learned two new things on this part of the quilt. The first is a tip from Amanda’s tutorial video on the “stitch and flip” method. When using this method on the border cornerstone blocks, you should not sew directly on your diagonal line, but a hairline more toward the corner to accommodate the fabric bulk. That way when you press the seam, all the edges of your block line up and the seam allowances measure as they should. The other tip, for the sashing blocks, is that you can save a ton of time in cutting and sewing if you just piece together a couple of long strips of fabric and then cut them into blocks. Brilliant!! Who would have thought?! That little technique sure made this part of the process go quickly!
