Fabric Tea Set

Description

I had the most fun making this tea set for our little granddaughter’s 2nd birthday!! It’s Kwik Sew K4006.

I used FabriTac glue on the handles and spouts before I hand sewed them in place with double thread and double stitching all around each piece. I wanted it to be able to withstand “hard” playing. I used Peltex circles glued inside on the base of the pieces instead of cardboard. And, with fusible interfacing on the handles on the cups and the creamer and sugar bowl, it was just too hard to try to turn tubes–so I just placed a piece of cording inside the folded handles and topstitched them closed. The tea pot handle was larger and I could turn the tube, but it was really a struggle!

I used a container from a wheel of Brie and painted it and added a ribbon around the side of the lid. And, I made felt cookies to put in it! The cups have brown fabric on the top so she can pretend it’s coffee, tea, or hot chocolate!.
