“Minky” Mouse Blanket

Description

My two-year-old grandson loves Mickey Mouse or “Mick-Mo” as he says. I made a super-soft blanket using blue Minky on one side and soft cotton knit “faces of Mickey” print on the other. With my Bernina 780 I first embroidered his name using a purchased font and added a jaunty set of mouse ears. After putting together the knit and the minky and tacking with lots and lots of safety pins I used my BSR in a meandering-type pattern to quilt (my first time to use the BSR!). Next I cut the cotton knit 2 inches smaller on all sides than the minky, folded the minky over as self-binding and stitched with the walking foot. It turned out so well I’ve since made a smaller one with purple minky and a soft flannel as a baby gift. My grandson loves his Mick-Mo blanket, too.
