Fast & Easy Flag Quilt from Precuts
Description
I recently heard a sewing curious person ask if flag projects were like the gateway drug into sewing. I had to laugh, because I think there could be a little bit of truth there!
I recently found myself with time to sew and the desire to make an incredibly fast and easy flag quilt for my guild’s summer patriotic challenge. I designed this quilt project to use readily available precuts, so that getting started was quick.
Scrappy piece work is visually enticing, so I went with a wide variety of fabric prints. If you want to simplify the project even more, choose solid colors.
The wonky stars are chain pieced, and I didn’t even take the time to trim the blue from underneath the star arms. I truly wanted this flag to come together as quickly as possible.
This wonky star method would work as a stand alone quilt. Simply change the colors and you have a fantastic looking quilt top that is easy to make!
I enjoyed the challenge of creating this flexible design. You can change the size by altering how many wonky stars you make. My 6 star version will be 104” long, a generous throw size. It’s perfect for sitting on to watch fireworks!
Happy Sewing!
