From Desperation to Elation

Description

My first sewing machine was a Bernette given to me over 25 years ago as a gift. It’s been a great machine but hadn’t been used very much in the last few years. I used it a couple times last year and found that it was in desperate need of servicing and my snap-on-foot clamp broke, so I took it in to a local repair shop. Long story short, the repair process was a nightmare, and their “repair” made my machine unusable. Desperate, I called around town and found a local quilt shop (Quilt Sampler, Tulsa) who sold Bernina machines. Their Manager was friendly, super helpful, and willing to order the part I needed. When I walked into the store my jaw dropped. The fabric selection was extensive, and the displayed quilts were amazing. I was like a kid in a candy store! Their technician fixed my machine correctly and promptly. And my interest in quilting was piqued. I decided to take the Quilting 101 class in November, 2017. My instructor, Jamie, was knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. And using my Bernette, I finished my first lap quilt in a month. My family then started giving hints on what colors they wanted in their quilts. 🙂 Being in and out of the store during that month, I heard Jamie talking about the Bernina sale taking place for the Christmas holidays and some of her recommended machines. With a list of quilts to make and a need for a bigger throat space and upgraded functionality, my husband gave me the green light to take advantage of the sale and purchase a new machine. I’m now the proud owner of a Bernina 770 QE! I have finished the blocks for a queen-sized quilt, and I’m also currently taking another class to learn different quilt block patterns. My machine is quiet, quick, and downright amazing! It has so many stitches and features, and I can even embroider with it. Thank you local repair shop for the nightmare “repair”. My experience with you sent me to Quilt Sampler. Their wonderful customer service, friendly staff, and knowledgeable employees turned sheer Desperation into Elation as I learned a new skill, am enjoying a new hobby, and have an INCREDIBLE new Bernina machine to “Create Something Great” (the welcome screen on my machine) every time I turn it on. #lovequilting #lovebernina #quiltsamplertulsa
