2013 BERNINA WeAllSew Fabric Design Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. THIS PROMOTION IS INTENDED FOR AND LIMITED TO THE UNITED STATES. DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE NOT LOCATED IN THE UNITED STATES AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: This contest is for “aspiring designers” ONLY, therefore if you already have a fabric line, you are not eligible to enter. Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, contractors, directors and officers of BERNINA of America (“Sponsor”), its parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, and the web design, advertising, fulfillment, judging and promotion agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Promotion (collectively, “Promotion Parties”), and the immediate family members of each such person (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, and spouse or “step” of each) and those living in the same household of each such person (those persons whether related or not who lived in the same residence for at least three months during the twelve-month period preceding the start date of the Promotion) are not eligible to enter or win.
CONTEST PERIOD: The contest begins on April 1, 2013 at 12:00:01 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) and ends on April 22, 2013 at 11:59:59 p.m. CT (the “Contest Submission Period”).
CONTEST WINNERS & PRIZES: The Fabric Design Contest winners will be posted on the original contest blog post by May 31, 2013. Winning designs will be chosen through a combination of number of Pinterest repins from the WeAllSew Fabric Design Contest Pinterest board and BERNINA Sewing Celebrity judges including Angie Steveson, Amanda Murphy, Vanessa Christenson, Mimi Goodwin and Pat Bravo
Winners will receive the following prizes:
- Pinterest People’s Choice Winner (Two winners based on most re-pins)
- Two winning designs will be chosen based on the most number of re-pins directly from the contest’s official Pinterest board. The re-pin numbers appearing on the official contest board are the only numbers that will be considered.
- Prize: A Field Guide to Fabric Design book
- Three patterns from Lunch Box Quilts (http://www.lunchboxquilts.com/)
- 2nd Runner Up (based on Celebrity judges vote)
- A Field Guide to Fabric Design book

TO ENTER: All contest communications and updates will be made at this WeAllSew blog post:
1. Read through all contest rules and entry steps in their entirety
2. Create your original fabric design “swatch”
- Designs should be 12” x 12”
- Hand techniques (sketching, painting, drawing, collage, stamping, etc.)
- Computer techniques (PowerPoint, PhotoShop, etc.)
- A combination of both hand and computer techniques
- Need inspiration? Visit our Fabric, Prints, Textiles board on Pinterest
3. Turn your design into an unloadable graphic
- Scan or photograph your original artwork
- • Save file as a JPG or PNG
- Resolution must be at least 150 dpi
4. Pin your original fabric design to Pinterest with the description “BERNINA & WeAllSew Fabric Design Contest” (if you don’t have a Pinterest account create one here)
5. Post a link to your pin within the comment section of the original blog post on WeAllSew. NOTE: This will be the only way we can make sure we get your entry. We will re-pin your submissions within 24 hours.
6. Share with your friends!
- Download and share the “Contestant” badge below on your Facebook, blog, etc.
- Ask your friends to repin your design directly from the official contest Pinterest board
- The re-pinning period ends April 22, 2013
Limit ten (10) design entries per person. Entries MUST be pinned on Pinterest AND a link to that pin MUST be placed within the comment section of the Fabric Design Contest blog post on WeAllSew.com. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the entrant, the obvious person associated with the Pinterest account used for Entry will be considered the entrant. Participants may not enter with multiple Pinterest accounts nor use any other device or artifice to register over the allotted 10 times per person. Any participant who attempts to enter with multiple Pinterest accounts or uses any device or artifice to enter multiple times will be disqualified and forfeit any and all prizes won, at Sponsor’s sole discretion. By participating, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and the Sponsor’s decisions. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Pinterest. By entering, you are providing your information to the Sponsor and not to Pinterest.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTEST ENTRIES: Entry (each fabric design “swatch”) must be the original work of the entrant; may not have won previous awards; may not have been previously used publicly by any third party; must not infringe on any third party’s rights; must be suitable for publication (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent); must not contain obscene or pornographic material; may not contain defamatory statements; may not invade privacy, publicity or other rights of any person, firm or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations; may not contain any reference to any third party trademarks, names or third party logos; and may not contain any copyrighted works owned by third parties. Entries cannot be changed, altered or modified once submitted. All Entries will be reviewed for content eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules before voting and/or judging occurs. Entries containing false information, prohibited material or inappropriate content, or deemed to be in violation of these Official Rules or to be otherwise infringing, harmful, inappropriate, defamatory, or generally not in keeping with the image of Sponsor, as determined by the Judges or the Sponsor, at their sole discretion, may be disqualified and will not be eligible to participate in the Promotion. Entrant acknowledges and agrees that such decisions of Sponsor are final and binding. Sponsor makes the final determination as to which entries are eligible for this Promotion and reserves the right to waive the Contest Entry requirements set forth herein at its reasonable discretion.
COMMERCIAL USE OF CONTEST ENTRIES: Submission of an Entry grants Sponsor and its agents the right to share, post and talk about that Entry in relation to the contest and for contest promotion purposes only. The Sponsor DOES NOT have the right to publish or print fabric design entries except in the case of the winning designs and ONLY for the purpose of contestant prizes and blog giveaways.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: No liability or responsibility is assumed by Sponsor or Promotion Parties resulting from participation in, or attempt to participate in, the Promotion, or the downloading of any information in connection with participating in the Promotion. No responsibility or liability is assumed by the Sponsor or Promotion Parties for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences, without limitation, that may affect the operation of the Promotion: Hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any email transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted email transmissions; inaccessibility of the Promotion Web Site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or Promotion Web Site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention in the operation of the Promotion, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bug or worm; or destruction of any aspect of the Promotion. Sponsor and Promotion Parties are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Promotion Web Site. Use of the Promotion Web Site is at user’s own risk. Sponsor and Promotion Parties are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind that may be sustained to user’s or any other person’s computer equipment resulting from participation in the Promotion, use of the Promotion Web Site or the downloading of any information from the Promotion Web Site. By participating in the Promotion, the entrant agrees (and agrees to confirm in writing): (a) to release Sponsor and Promotion Parties from any and all claims, loss, damages or liabilities (“Claims”) incurred with respect to entrant’s participation in the Promotion and the awarding, receipt, possession, and/or use or misuse of any prize, including any traveling related thereto. By accepting a prize, recipient agrees to release and hold Sponsor, Promotion Parties, Facebook, Inc. and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents harmless from any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind to persons or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Promotion; and from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of a prize including but not limited to liability for taxes, duties or other levies assessed upon any of the prizes; (b) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; (c) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (d) any and all claims, judgments, and award shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneys’ fees and court costs. Except in Tennessee, and where prohibited by law, by accepting a prize, Winner grants permission for Sponsor, Promotion Parties, and those acting under their authority to use his/her name, photograph, voice and/or likeness, for advertising and/or publicity purposes, in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented without territorial or time limitations and without additional compensation.
