Sewing Workshop’s Cottage Shirt with Zen Double Collar

Description

Almost 2 years ago I watched a YouTube video by Linda Lee of The Sewing Workshop, wearing and demonstrating how to change the collar on their Cottage Shirt pattern to the double collar on their Zen Shirt pattern.  Intrigued, I ordered a few fabrics:  a pink linen, a gray linen, an Ikat, a floral pattern linen, a textured black cotton and a black and white  mixed fiber fabric.  I was working on other projects that year and so the fabric sat atop our guest bed, while I thought about how I’d use them.  I draped them a bit on my dress form before deciding.  Started with the black and white shirt, then the pink, gray and floral shirt and finally (since I’d purchased way too much linen fabric) the gray and pink shirt.  I was so short on pink linen by then that I had to cut the inner yoke into 2 pieces and seam them.  But, hey, that is inside the shirt.  While working on the pink, gray and floral version, I hunted for buttons and came across some vintage pink and white buttons on Etsy, at the Buttoncrazy Etsy shop.  But when they arrived, I decided the shirt needed a contrasting charcoal-colored button.  So I used the buttons on the final version, the gray and pink.  I love all of them!  This shirt is just a big square with cuffs attached.  I have altered it quite a bit at this point, adjusting for my more rounded upper back and larger bust, but they are a pleasure to wear.

P.S.  I wore the floral shirt recently; it is a bit wrinkly, but that is as wrinkly as this fabric gets, so not bad.
