My First Bernina

Description

My first Bernina was a manual Bernina 1000 purchased second-hand from a community college that was upgrading their Home Economics department to brand new machines. That was in the early 1980’s and I still use that machine regularly! I upgraded to an electronic Bernina 830 in 2010 but I still use my old 1000 as my traveling machine. When I am costuming a theatrical production, the 1000 comes with me to the theatre and hangs out backstage while I take up hems, repair seams and make last-minute repairs and adjustments. Because it is not electronic, it travels well and has a strong motor. I call it my old workhorse!
