Instructions to create a Wreath Heart Valentine’s Pillow
Gather Supplies as listed above. Cut out one front pillow piece, your desired width x length. And cut two back pillow pieces, you desired width x ¾ of your desired length. Include 1″ for seam allowance in both of your width x length measurements.
Cut out various heart shapes from your felt, all approximately the same size. Precision is not necessary.
Place heart shapes in a circle on the right side of your front pillow piece. (If assistance is needed with the circle shape, grab a pot or other circular object, and lay directly on top of your pillow. Trace around gently using fabric chalk, and follow your markings as a guide.)
Pin hearts in place, and sew around in a circle.
As you can see, my sewn circle isn’t very straight here, but that isn’t a big deal as we will be covering that sewn line up with more hearts.
Place more felt hearts on top of your previous circle, to create a fuller heart wreath. Pin in place and sew around. Try to sew as nice of a circle as possible in this step, as you will see the end result after this.
As mentioned previously, if assistance is needed with the circle shape, grab a pot or other circular object, and lay directly on top of your pinned hearts. Trace around gently using fabric chalk, and follow your markings as a guide. This will help you create a nice sewn circle.
Take one back pillow piece and fold down one of the width sides raw edge ¼” towards the wrong side and press. Fold again ¼”, press, and sew. Repeat for other back pillow piece.
Take your front pillow piece, and lay right side up. Take one of your back pillow pieces and place right sides together with the front, matching up three of the raw edges along the bottom and sides. *Note – the folded and sewn edge will not match up with any edge, but rather will be on top of the front pillow.
Take your second back pillow piece and place on top of the other back pillow piece, right side facing down, matching up the three raw edges along the top of the pillow this time. Sew all around.
Turn right side out, and press out all corner edges.
Slip pillow form inside of envelope fold along the back, and you are finished! Enjoy your new Valentine’s themed pillow with love.
