My favorite (relatively) quick gift is to spend an afternoon darning the holes in my husband’s jeans with my Bernina darning foot. It’s fun for me and it makes him really happy!

My husband has always loved bow ties and nice ones can be difficult to find. So, several years ago after taking one apart and making a pattern all the guys in my family put in their request. Since then I not only make bow ties for my husband, but also for my son, sons-in-law and grandsons. It’s really nice when we can coordinate them around a theme like a holiday or favorite ball teams…

My easiest quick gift for my son is pillowcases made using fabrics that fit his interests and hobbies…take about an hour to make, very easy!

The most favorite items I made for my 2 grandsons was what I call a blanket quilt. I took fake fur that looked like deer hide as the top of the quilt and imitation suede as the bottom and batting in the middle. I tie tacked it with DMC thread and bind it with satin blanket binding. The only part I sewed with my Bernina was the binding. The boys love them. I have made similar for the grandgirls.

I’m somewhat new to sewing and am now inspired to try to sew a tie for my hubby!
In the past I’ve sewn cornhole bag sets for the male friends in my life. 😀 It’s a pretty quick and easy sewing project, except for the filling part.

My quick gift for a man is to make individual shoe bags for quick and easy packing. You can mix and match fabrics and colors for the main body. My Bernina makes quick work of the buttonholes for the drawstring.

My honey loves to watch when I darn his favorite old and comfy jeans. The darning is so easy to do. We both love it.

I like the earbud case. It is a circle with a zipper opening, and a tab in case you want to put it on a keychain. Love the Deer quilt, and crusin’ the other tutorials I found the String of dolls. So cute!

I remember as a teenager sewing ties for my dad and my grandfathers — I used all the wrong fabrics, but they all wore them proudly. My favorite gift made, though, was a quilted throw. The quilt top was made from the good parts of old plaid shirts. My husband loved his plaid shirts!

My go to holiday or birthday gift for guys is a quick zippered travel shaving kit bag lined in plastic and embroidered with their monogram. I usually choose a cool plaid or fabric in their favorite color or sports team.

As a retiree, my husband loves to teach fly casting especially to young kids. I embroider his name on all his fishing shirts and make bags to fit his fishing gear. He loves it.

I love making Pillowcases with matching drawstring bags to use for shoes, odds and ends or unmentionables when they travel. They can use their own pillowcase on their pillow for a taste of home and then have the little bag to tuck into the suitcase or duffel for other carry alongs. They’ve been quite the hit in my family, especially done up in some cute “guy fabric”!

My favorite gift for a guy is a golf towel. i look for an embroidery to put on then i put their name below. it has gotten some wow reactions!
The other thing i’ve made are embroideries on luggage straps. i either put initials or their last name…whatever is appropriate!

I like to make little bags. One year I made zippered bags for all the ringers in my handbell choir. I used my cording foot to create designs with cord and many decorative stitches. Each bag was unique.

I like to make simple polar fleece blankets or turtle fur wraps as we call it in the NorthEast. Just know the height of your guy so you can make it the right length when he’s reclining watching that football game.He will be so happy if the blanket/wrap fits him from head to toe when it’s really cold outside.

I have made round pouches with a zipper in the center. These are great to store earbuds coiled up and are easy to toss into a pocket for travel.

I made monogrammed shoe bags for my son-in-law who travels a great deal. I made them for my husband as well, but it was before I had my 830, so his were not monogrammed.

My son cuts the his pajama pants off at the knees to create “pirate pajamas!” He is weird, I know! After saving the scraps for a few years I turned them into a Fence Rail lap quilt and mailed it to him. He lives in Norway. He opened the box on his birthday and exclaimed “My Pirate Pajamas!” He loves his lap quilt!

I like to make quilts for the men in my family. They especially like the flannel quilts made from Northcott’s plaid Woolies. I use washable wool batting. It is lightweight but warm and cozy.
