I love making FSL ornaments for myself, family and friends. I have made icicles, ornament covers, hot air balloons, and various figures such as Santa’s face & bears. While I have hand crocheted snowflakes and ornament covers, using the sewing machine is much easier!

I made several of the Danish stars from fabric last year to gift to my quilting friends.I usually make some type of ornament to gift , but it is not always made from fabric.

I’ve made those Danish stars in the past and taught several members of my small quilt group to make them also. They look so great on the tree especially if you pick out the right fabrics. But one year in the recent past I made felt snow flake ornaments for each member of my group and that was definitely fun and a surprise for them.

I think this week’s ideas are cute for decorating a tree and I may like to try the Holly Leaves. AND I particularly like the idea of hanging them on a wine bottle. They would be an adorable adornment to a gift bag too. Very cute. While I do have an embroidery option on my machine, I may take this opportunity to explore the sewing variety.

Stocking ornaments! The small stockings work for candy and cash, stout ones for gift cards. They can be re-gifted or used for decoration for many years to come.

My favorite tree trimming projects are in-the-hoop candy cane holders. They look nice on the tree and all the kiddos that come by leave here with something. I was surprised a few years back when I visited a friend. Her tree was covered with my candy cane holders!

I’m had the best time making Christmas cards out it scraps of fabric. Cutting squares and folding into triangles. The shapes are then glued down to make a tree. My grand daughter loved it too.

My favorite tree trimming project to sew is FSL ornaments. I love using my embroidery machine to help in the project. But I especially love to share with my friends my handcrafted ornaments and have several I have received over the years from my friends that I cherish.

It’s not exactly trimming the tree, but they set below it! I love to make fabric gift bags with pretty bows to replace the paper gift wrap. Eventually, I will have no more paper to use and all of my holiday gift bags will be reusable and so pretty beneath the tree!

My favorite tree trimming project is the 3-dimensional Holley Leaf Ornaments. Another fun project I have done in the past is sewing icicles using clear vinyl, filled with pearlescent shredded film.
