Radiant Splendor Supersized Quilt-along: Week 1
Hello everyone, it’s Faith from Fresh Lemons Quilts. Over the next three weeks, I’ll be here sharing instructions to make a bold, new quilt. Radiant Splendor Supersized is a very large version of one of my favorite quilt blocks. Measuring 60″ x 60″, it is the perfect pattern to showcase your favorite large scale prints.
The Radiant Splendor Supersized Quilt-along will follow the below schedule:
Week 1 : Fabric Selection, Requirements, Cutting
Week 2: Piecing Block Units
Week 3: Quilt Top Assembly, Quilting, Finishing Up
Let’s get started!
Fabric Selection for the Radiant Splendor Supersized Quilt
Selecting Your Fabric
Typically when I make a quilt, I use quilting cottons with a small scale design. When cutting fabric into tiny pieces, I really enjoy how these fabrics look. But with this project, we are going BIG! I decided to treat myself to some of those larger scale prints that I always admire. I immediately thought of Bari J’s beautiful watercolored floral designs. I am using Painted Desert Night and Bougainvillea Lilac from Bari J’s Sage collection, and Stitched Diamant Verve from Bari J’s Joie de Vivre collection.
For the background, I wanted to do something a little more interesting than a plain white cotton. I chose Robert Kaufman Essex Linen in the color Linen. The color in person is whiter than the online swatch indicates.
Fabric Requirements
1 yard Painted Desert Night Fabric (Outer Star Points)
1/2 yard Bougainvillea Lilac Fabric (Inner Star Points)
2/3 yard Stitched Diamant Verve Fabric (Diagonals)
3 yards Background Fabric
1/2 yard Binding Fabric
3-1/2 yards Backing Fabric
63″ x 63″ Piece of Batting
Cutting Instructions
I look forward to coming back next week to start our block unit assembly!

I love large block quilts — this should be fun!!!

It would be helpful if we could print this! I can’t carry my computer to another floor in my house where my sewing room is and I am unable to write to copy the information that I need. Poor planning for an interesting and exciting project. When I tried to copy and paste to a word doc it was a full page for each fabric. You need to be able to print from the web site…where is your print button?

Is there a way to scale this down so it is smaller than 60×60? Thanks.
