Ilse’s Ruffled Cardigan

When I saw Ilse Heine wearing this ruffled cardigan, I just had to ask where she got it. And wouldn’t you know, she’d made it on her serger! Look inside and you can see the serged seams.  She used Jalie’s Pleated Cardigan pattern (a PatternReview.com Best Pattern of 2010 winner) and the entire garment was serged except for the hem. Ilse says, “The hardest part of this jacket was keeping the ruffles in the right direction when stitching and even that was pretty easy.”

Don’t you just love the ruffled fabric? Ashley over at Make It & Love It adores it, too! Check out these tutorials on her website, all featuring this amazing fabric: Ruffled Skirt, Long Ruffled Maxi Dress, Re-Purposing a T-Shirt into a Ruffly Dress, Ruffle Shirt from Fabric Scraps, and her latest, a Long A-Line Skirt made from “Ruffles and Ridges” fabric.
