A New Bed for Digger

Don’t forget to sew for your pets! I made this dog bed for my “babies.” I used BERNINA Embroidery Software 6 to add Digger’s name and some animal footprints, but my boys are covering it up in the photo. Buddy has his own bed, but likes to be close to Digger. Personalized pet beds are easy to make, and polar fleece is a great fabric to work with.

    • Bunny didn’t use a pattern for Digger’s bed; here’s what she did:
Supplies — 1 yard fleece, Isacord embroidery thread, OESD bobbin thread, construction thread, and fiberfill.
Cut the Fabric: Cut two 17″ diameter circles for the main part of the bed. Cut one 14″ x 54″ strips for the sides (this can be a constrasting color if desired).
      – Embroider the name in the center of one 17″ circles.
      – Place the two circles wrong sides together and sew or serge around the edge.
      – Placethe short edges of the long strip right sides together; stitch with a 1/4″-wide seam allowance.
      – Fold the strip wrong sides together, lengthwise.
      – Pin the circle and sides together, with the sides next to the bottom of the circle.
      – Stitch around the circle, leaving a 2″ opening for inserting the fiberfill.
      – Stuff the fiberfill into the bed tightly.
      – Handstitch the opening closed.
