Tips for Sewing Vinyl

  1. Avoid creating permanent pinholes by using Clover Wonder Clips to hold layers together.

  1. Use a needle with a sharp point like a Schmetz Microtex needle—size 80/12 will work well for most standard threads. Topstitch needles can help to prevent skipped stitches.

  1. Increase your stitch length when sewing vinyl to keep from perforating the material.

  1. Reduce your presser foot pressure to move over the sticky material with ease.

  1. To avoid damaging the material, use a seam roller for pressing a seam—Clover Roll and Press.

There are so many wonderful things you can make with vinyl. I love it for bags and pouches that will have a lot of wear and tear. It can also make some great home dec projects like pillows and covers. Some materials work well in garments like coats, jackets and hats.
