I have taught someone to sew but not using a holiday project. I think I used a really basic quilt pattern. Thanks for the great giveaway.

No, but I’ve never really met someone who wanted to sew and wasn’t taught by someone in their family already

Not yet, at least! I taught my daughters to sew, but they didn’t enjoy it. Now I’m teaching my granddaughter to quilt, and she loves it. 🙂

Indeed! Taught my daughter the basics with sewing appliqued gift bags, and little snap closure coin purses. A gift within a gift!

yes my daughter learned by making potholders when she was 12 and now sews in her spare time

I don’t feel I know enough about sewing and methods other than the the very basics to be able to teach anyone. I tried to show my daughters but unfortunately they aren’t interested in learning.

One year I taught a bunch of my friends how to make pillow cases for Christmas.

I’ve taught some of my grandchildren to sew (the rest aren’t old enough yet!). Two made pillows for their parents for Christmas. Lots of fun!

Yes, I taught my son to sew by making small square fabric pockets to hold Christmas candy canes for his Sunday School class. It was a great first project that sewed up quickly.

Yes – I taught my niece how to sew, using a purse organizer as her first project. I gave these out as gifts to my family the year before, and she liked them so much that she wanted to learn how to make them.

No. I think Christmas seems like to crazy of a time to learn to sew. Unless I planned ahead and could do it in the summer! ;O)

Multi-tasking is a thing of my past. Sewing means “total relaxation” for me…no baking while relaxing!

Yes, my sister and I made fabric-covered clothesline bowls with a Christmas theme. It was an easy project for teaching her to use a basic zig zag stitch.

I helped my daughter make a gift for a friend a couple of years ago. It was a great learning experience, for both of us! Bernina machines are so easy to teach on!

My Granddaughters made a pillow for their mother using the sewing machine that I bought them for Christmas

No…This is my first year getting involved with machine embroidery and quilting.

Yes! I taught my friend’s daughter using a towel and sewing on a nice piece of holiday fabric to the bottom of the towel. She learned how to turn things under and sew a straight stitch, along with how to measure and cut with seam allowances. It was a great project and she learned it quickly. The project was done in a day!!

Yes, I taught my grandson when he was 10. He made a Christmas Pillowcase. He was so proud of his pillowcase.
