Vintage Ornaments Quilt-Along
Hello! I am Cherry Guidry, BERNINA Ambassador, fabric and pattern designer, and I am so happy to be sharing my latest Christmas quilt at WeAllSew, Vintage Ornaments, a new Quilt-Along project focused on fusible applique. Yes, it is only May, but you know, it’s never too late to get started on those holiday projects, right?
When the boys were just babies, we lived in a small town where a favorite street of ours was always beautifully decorated for the holidays and it became the perfect inspiration for my new Christmas collection for Contempo Studio – Benartex, Mulberry Lane, the fabric I used to make Holiday Ornaments.
Beginning in June and ending in October, we will work on simple piecing, talk about some of my favorite applique tips while making eight easy applique blocks, and finish the project with some great quilting options. The throw finishes at 41″ x 60″ and will be ready just in time for Christmas!

I am trying to find a great pieced Xmas pattern for stockings and I would really like to incorporate these ornaments. Is there a pattern available to make them?

Are you going to provide the patterns, or do we have to purchase a kit?
-
Hi Daisy, we will post the pattern and instructions and you could use fabrics of your choice or visit your local BERNINA dealer to shop for the Mulberry Lane fabrics used in the quilt along.

I have searched all over your website and googled “Vintage Ornament Quilt Sew Along” and cannot find the pattern or kits. Local Bernina dealers don’t know anything about this project. Please advise as to how a dealer can get the pattern and/or kits. Thank you.

I’ll be joining the Vintage Ornaments quilt-along. I dowmloaded the photo w/ material requirements (from the link above after the list of fabrics (“Download the Vintage Ornaments Quilt fabric requirements here.”). I’m hoping that more detailed info will be coming.
I LOVED the fabrics & colorway in the original… sadly those colors don’t work in my house, & my local Bernina dealer doesn’t carry the Mulberry Lane fabrics. I spent several hours choosing colors that will go in my house (the owner came up from downstairs and said “Are you _still_ here?”). Since the colors I chose are deep orange, peach, a pea-soup green for one of the feature fabrics (that was why I was @ the shop for so long, it was hard to find friends for that one), a brigh lime green, and a light and dark in taupey brown tones. So, I’m planning on changing the shapes of the ornaments so they’re not so Christmassy, but just feature shapes. I’m hoping that doing the quilt-along will give me the impetus to keep sewing on it and get it done.

Hi,
Now that it’s June 1st, I’m anxiously awaiting the first installment of the Quilt-Along. When might we expect the first lesson/block to come out? I don’t want to miss anything! Can’t wait, this is so cute. I’ve talked my friend into doing this with me, so we’re going to have kind of matching quilts (we’ll each use our own fabric choices). Thanks in advance!

Hello, Cherry! I’m so happy to be participating in your quilt along project! I found most of the fabrics online—my Bernina store didn’t have any. The only one I couldn’t find was the 3 yds. of snowflake white #1896-09. Do you know where I can get this fabric? I’ve tried to find a true white on white snowflake fabric but only found off-white and that won’t work for me. Please let me know so I can be ready when the class starts.

Where did you get the fabrics ? Where you able to order ‘fat quarters” online ?

Cherry, I purchased to guilt fabric sets but I guess I did not sign up right for the notification for this blog. Is there anyway I can catch up on the back post?
thank you -
Red snowflake fabric requirement is fat eighth but cutting instructions call for it to cut into (6) 2 1/4 X WOF for binding. That does not leave enough for circle ornament. In another place it says use red dot for binding. I have already cut the red snowflake for binding so will have to substitute later.
But I love this pattern! -
I just found this post and love the pattern. Where do I find the template now that the quilt along is over.
Thank you
Nora
