Serged Patchwork Fleece Blanket — Civil War Blue & Gray

A few weeks ago I taught a “Holiday Serging & Simple Sewing” webinar, part of our “Just Sew It!” series. I had so much fun prepping and presenting — making gifts and using my serger combines two of my favorite types of sewing! Here’s a note from Patricia, who attended the webinar:

I watched your webinar on serged Christmas gifts and I especially liked the blanket. I made one for my brother’s birthday and gave it to him this afternoon. He is over 6′ and the blanket is rather large. I thought I’d rather have it plenty long enough than too short when he is napping in his recliner! Since he is a Civil War historian, I made it blue and gray. My brother loved it! I think he is really looking forward to snuggling up with a good book in his recliner this winter! Just wanted to say thanks for such a great idea. I have the BERNINA 1300 MTDC and it was so easy to make. Have a great holiday and keep those webinars coming!

Want to make your own serged patchwork blanket? My instructions for this and other easy-to-serge projects are on the BERNINA USA website, under Classes > Just Sew It! Classes. A recording of the webinar is available until December 21, and includes this blanket, table settings, gift bags, and other projects. Visit www.berninausa.com and scroll down to the Just Sew It! button, then click on Quick Holiday Gifts – Serge It!
