Yes, I like to make gifts that will be used rather than by something that may not get used.
-
Sometimes, but not often –
-
Sure…if it’s for quilts!!!
-
No, I’m not at that skill level yet! YET! 😀
-
No, no one has asked me yet…
-
I usually don’t get “sewn-gift requests” from my family, so I never thought about that! I usually get the typical sewing requests–hem pants, fix a rip, etc.
I’m still fairly new at quilting, so I’ve been working on a “hug” (lap quilt) for each adult child and spouse, which they all know about. And I’m making handmade coasters to put in their stockings. Smaller things, so I don’t inundate them with MY fun projects! 😉
-
I used to but now I’m more careful not to fill up my sewing time with requests. I have in the past spent more time than I’d like to remember doing clothing alterations, drapes & hems etc. I gave up sewing years ago because I couldn’t say ‘no’!
-
Yes. I am not the greatest with my sewing skills, but I can do simple things!
-
Yes, I do. It is an honor to be asked to make something, plus, why spend the time making something for someone that they won’t like.
-
always, I make what ever they want!
-
No. I like to sew what I want to sew. In my own time frame.
-
I try not to!! haha!! I can’t turn anyone down!
-
I do take sewn-gift requests from family. They have to be very special loved ones to get a sewn gift from me. Last Halloween I made a poodle skirt for my 10 year old granddaughter at her request. It was fun, fit her perfectly and received many compliments at her various Halloween parties.
-
Yes, I take requests.
-
Yes! Purses, table runners, mug rugs and quilts are popular!
-
Nope! Not for Christmas. You get what I want to give!
-
Nope. I learned my lesson when I asked about colors/patterns for quilts and ended up working on things I wasn’t comfortable with and didn’t like when finished. LOL!
-
Sometimes, but requested quilts get put on the list of “To Do” Not drop everything and start it NOW.
-
I usually do not take requests. I like to surprise my friends and family. If someone needs help with a project I am happy to help out.
-
I try to be selective so I don’t spend Christmas Eve panic sewing.
-
I wish I had time to make all the things that are requested. It does add a bit of pressure to make it perfect.
-
It depends on who and what they want. If I do make something for them we agree on cost and no complaining in advance.
-
I take requests from family only. But,if it is something too big, it might not get done until Easter!
-
It depends on the request and how much notice I am given. But with family… The requests never stop. 🙂
-
I would, however, all my family and friends sew, so they haven’t made any requests.
-
I usually encourage them to learn how to make it themselves so they have an appreciation of how much energy goes into handmade items.
-
Yes, it’s a win/win!
-
Yes, especially the grands!!
-
no. whenever I get a request I reply with “my waiting list is two years”. I have too many things I need to finish before starting a new project.
-
I’ll take requests without deadlines 🙂
-
Yes, I enjoy that my craft is appreciated & ensures the items are used!
-
Yes, I do. It makes gift giving easier.
-
Absolutely. That way, I know that the recipient really wants it!
-
not so much
-
Sometimes – it depends on the project. I am often too busy making my own projects!
-
Indeed I do :o)
-
I LOVE to get sewn-gift requests from my family – I get them every year and do my best to fulfill them. This year I’ve made purse organizers, pillows, potholders, eyeglass cases, a purse, bibs, burpies, and girls’ dresses. Fun, fun, fun!
-
Once in a while I will get a request, but not as much now as when the kids were little. They always wanted me to make something for them or their friends.
-
Yes I do!
-
No, I do not make things that others have seen or expressed an interest in having.
-
Usually don’t get requests, I tend to just do request throughout the year.
-
Yes – but I don’t encourage it. The request usually comes at the last minute and often is for something I don’t enjoy sewing. But I knock myself out to do the zaniest things if the grandchildren ask.
-
I’m not confident enough to take requests, though I do make gifts. Sounds like a contradiction, oh well. Thanks.
-
Yes, because it is a compliment that someone has asked for something special that I have made.
-
not so much so sorry I did not see it
-
I used to, but only as freebies…never could charge
-
For very special people!
-
yes, but not often. believe it or nto, holiday-themed placemats (for Christmas, Channukah, and Valentine’s Day the most often) are requested gifts.
-
Yes I do. If I am going to take the time to make something for someone I want them to like it.
-
I haven’t been asked yet. But then I’m not so sure if I would be able to complete the sewing gift request on time.
-
Yes, for quilts, curtains and fleece throws.
-
I don’t get requests…
To the question “Do you ever make things to sell?”, I reply “No, I get bored making multiples of the same thing”. I’m not roped into mmitting to sew something, but I know what project would make a good gift for that person! -
Only from the grandchildren! Otherwise I will be kept busy working on things I don’t really like!
-
Yes! Granddaughter wanted a cozy quilt! She’s getting one!
-
Yes. I want them to be happy with what I give them!
Lucky Quilter -
Yes….it makes it easier for me as I want them to enjoy and use it!
-
Luv to make and give!!!!
Thank You -
I never have, but I’m willing!
-
I sew what I want to sew. If I’ve done a very nice job, it may become a gift.

I certainly do. It makes it easier to make just the right thing…and I have some people in my family who do not like surprises at all!
