Maggie Tank Top Sew Along, Part 2
Welcome back to day two of our Maggie tank top sew along! Now the fun really begins! Today we will be constructing our tank tops! I will be using my bernette 64 AIRLOCK and bernette 77. Whether you are using your serger or sewing machine, be sure you have stretch needles in. If you want to hem using a double needle on your sewing machine be sure to have that handy as well. I use polyester thread for sewing all my knits but you can use stretch thread as well. Now go ahead and grab your pattern pieces and join me as I sew the Maggie tank top.
I hope you enjoyed sewing up your new tank top! Please let me know if you have any questions! I love being able to help people learn to sew to fit their bodies. I want making your own garments to feel fabulous!
Be sure to check out Part 1 of this sew along to learn how to measure yourself, choose your sizes, grade your pattern, and cut out your pattern pieces. You can find that post here.
If you’re sewing along with us, we’d love to have you tag us on social media! You can tag @bernetteusa and @therabbitthutchsews so that we can see what you’re making!

With a regular sewing machine you’ll want to use a stretch stitch like the zig zag, lightening bolt, or triple stitch. The armbands are finished with topstitching. A double needle works great or you can use a small zig zag or other stretch stitch. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I don’t use Facebook. How can I get the pattern?

It is only available free as a perk for her Facebook group members, but you can also purchase it from her website.

I will be sewing on a regular sewing machine, what stitch should be used for knits? Also, how are the neck and arm bands finished after they are attached? Are they sewn in the ditch, or top-stitched with stitches showing on the front of the tank?
