Melissa Mortenson is the writer behind the Polka Dot Chair blog. She is the mother of three who grew up in Salt Lake City but is now happy to call Kentucky home. Her blog, the Polka Dot Chair is starting its sixth year of sharing craft and sewing ideas with readers. Melissa's main goal while writing her blog is to inspire readers to make something. She has a great love and appreciation for all things handmade. In 2009 she started her sewing pattern design company. She has been featured on numerous craft and lifestyle websites, and has had her work published in two books. She is the author of "Project Teen: Handmade Gifts your Teens will Actually Love" and is a fabric designer for Riley Blake Designs.
