Halloween Candy Covers
With Halloween approaching, I wanted to make a special treat for the “trick or treaters” in my neighborhood. Last year, about this same time I was watching Better TV, a television program from Better Homes & Gardens and remembered something they did with an Exacto knife and card stock. At the time, I went to their website, http://better.tv and downloaded a pattern to make this special candy cover-up.
Equipped with the BERNINA CutWork Software and Tool, I scanned the downloaded pattern, traced it, and then cut the cardstock using the cutwork tool– much faster than using the Exacto knife! I backed the cutout cardstock with a contrasting piece of cardstock. I stitched two pieces of ribbon (one on each side) to tie in a bow and added a button nose to complete the decorated cover. Of course, I used the Button Sew-On Foot # 18 to make this a fast and easy project.
While this pattern is no longer available for download from their website, you can create your own style of cut-out eyes in the software and create these cute wrappers for the ghosts, goblins, and super heroes in your neighborhood.

Hi, Kathleen – The blade of the CutWork Tool slices cleanly through the paper – no ragged edges! Jo

I love this, but wonder, how did you keep the paper from having jagged edges?
