Meet BERNINA Brand Ambassador Michelle from That Black Chic

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Michelle and I hang out at a little sewing blog by the name of That Black Chic. When I’m not blogging you can catch me at the crib putting the pedal to the metal in my sewing room.  I recently took over my basement for my sewing space and I love it. Although I think I need an intercom for my family, because I can never hear anyone calling me when I’m down there.  They usually call my cell phone to get in touch with me when I’m in my sewing basement. My youngest son is the person who bothers me the most when I’m sewing. He calls me with silly questions like, what’s for dinner or when are you going shopping? I answer my phone in my make-believe accent, telling him that he has the wrong number!

Random fact: I own 9 pairs of prescription glasses, I had more but I donated a few that I no longer wore.

My style is reckless and fun! I like to mix it up and color outside the lines, all day every day.

Another random fact: I am a fabric & pattern hoarder……oh but wait you probably have this same affliction I bet?

To know me is to know I love using re-fashioned denim in my projects, it’s probably more of an obsession at this point. I have a huge collection of old denim from all eras that I use anytime I can.   I use denim for crafts, reupholstering and clothing, you can definitely expect a few denim projects from me.

Last random fact: I have over 6,000 photographs. I mean actual developed pictures from when I used to use my 35mm camera. 

 My mission statement is to help you imagine, create and share beautiful things. With this BERNINA partnership my hopes are to show you how awesome it feels when you throw out all the sewing rules. [OK maybe not all the rules] I consider myself an artist first and I view my sewing projects as wearable art. Whether it’s drawing, painting, photography or sewing, I’m always pushing boundaries. I don’t expect everyone to like my style but as long as it generates conversation my art has done its job! Now let’s make beautiful things together!
