  • I’ve been working on the “ultimate travel tote bag” this last week. I had a nicely sized tote bag in my travel stuff, but it wasn’t optimized for travel. I used my 34D foot on my B990 and stitched two 2″ wide pieces of handle webbing together to make them more substantial. I unpicked the stitches holding the handles down on the back and slipped the webbing under them and stitched them back down. This made a nice strap to put over the handle of my suitcase.
I added two snaps to the top to keep it closed while under the seat in front of me.
Yesterday I made a couple of organizers to go inside the bag to keep everything sorted. Neither organizer was quite right so today I’m going to tweak the patterns of both of them to make the perfect size with the perfect pockets!

  • A lovely machine indeed. Project runway is so inspiring. My current make is a blouse
pattern from Sew Different. It’s a loose fitting, boxy raglan top, from a light weight
cotton. I’m just completing it using the L890 serger to finish the seams and the 780e to
sew the seams. A simple top with basic techniques, facing on the neckline and bias
binding on the sleeves and hem.

    • My current projects are decor for the house. Pillows for the living room, upholestry coverings on a piano cushion and a set of cushions for the mudroom bench. Great machines make the work a breeze!

  • My most recent garment project was a pair of leggings. I slipped the pattern from a pair I’ve worn for years. I assembled them using my l890 with a 4 thread overlock stitch and then used a 3 thread coverstitch over each seam to keep them laying flat. I also hemmed the legs with a 3 thread coverstitch

  • My family wanted to attend an Oktober Fest in Idaho on our family bike trip. I decided to make dirndls for each of the women and Lederhosen embellishments for the guys. I sewed using the embroidery module on my Bernina 880 to add to each of the bodices, skirt edges and aprons. We had such a great time!

  • I recently made each of my grandchildren a robe out of their favorite teams fleece. It was a fairly simple pattern but I did have to embroider their names on the front so they could tell whoose was whose. I woulkd like to get my 7 year old grandaughter into sewing and the Bernette 08 would be a great place to start. We also love project Runway.

  • I just finished a Sorbetto Top (free pattern by Seamworks) in a Rayon Batik. It is SO HOT outside!! My next up is a pair of work pants. This machine would be great for this! And for making bags!!

  • My latest make was a skirt and top, followed by finishing up older projects. Converted a pair of jeans with embroidered pockets into custom pot holders, all on an old SE400 brother machine.

  • My most recent project was a simple skirt and top. I’m sewing on an old brother le400, so could really use and appreciate this sweet b08!

  • My latest make was a butterfly-inspired garment featuring a mix of sequins, silk, and metallic fabrics. Working with such different textures was a fun challenge and let me experiment with combining delicate and structured materials. I stitched it on my Brother Project Runway sewing machine, which handled the variety of fabrics beautifully. I’m really happy with how the finished piece captures light and movement 🫶

  • I recently made an Emma dress by Silversaga Patterns out of a floral cotton lawn. I love to dress it up or down, and I feel like the elastic channels in the pattern really make such a great end result. I do not have a Bernina or Bernette, but maybe someday!

  • I made a swing-style v neck tank top with cotton & steel rayon. I used decorative stitches to create an overlock effect to prevent fraying. I used standard stitching to create and attach lining, and double needles to attach layers and finish the seams.

For garments or delicate fabrics, I use my Bernette B38. For quilts, I have used a Juki TL for years, but it tends to snag and isn’t nearly delicate enough for rayons. I need the B08!

  • I recently made some curtains using a Singer3330 with some added fringe trim! I used a few types of blue fabric as I had a specific area here at home that I wanted these for.

  • My most recent garment make was a large handbag that I made last week. I didn’t sew it since I don’t own a sewing machine but I crocheted it. I used three different colors of yarn – blue, cream and purple – in alternating rows. The yarn was a worsted weighted Loops & Threads yarn that I got at Michaels. I used a 5 mm hook. The bottom of the bag consisted of 20 rows of single crochets in a single color (blue). The body uses all 3 colors and is 40 total rows. Each row has 3 double crochets followed by 3 single crochets. This created a checkerboard pattern. The handle is a single color and was made with 5 rows of single crochets on each side of the bag to make a space on the front and back of the bag and then 8 rows of single crochets along the entire bag to close up the top of the handle. The top and the inside of the handles were finished with a slip stitch. I hope that makes sense (I’m sure I probably got some of that wrong). I got the pattern for free from TL Yarn Crafts. I love how the bag turned out and will be using it to store my WIPs. While I love crocheting, I hope to win this sewing machine so I can learn to sew.

  • My most recent project is a combination of a ribbon skirt I fixed up.

Then I am also working on a block of the month. Forest Trails, Wilmington Prints. We are on block 6. It goes until November I believe. really trying to stay caught up.

Then also working on our son’s and soon dil’s wedding quilt!!

All this on my Bernina 570qe!!

    Love to sew!!

  • My latest make was a baby quilt for my sister-in-law’s third baby girl, sewn on my Bernina Record 730!
My SIL chose to go with dark green and pink colors for the baby’s crib, so I mainly used dark green in varying shades and light pink together. Came together wonderfully!

    • That’s a wonderful project! I make baby quilts for charity as I don’t have new babies on the horizon yet. It’s amazing to be able to make “love projects” for our grands! I did and am waiting to make them wedding quilts.

  • I made a summer pair of shorts and shirt using my bernette b05 Academy using hi-viz yellow for the shorts and khaki twill. Both are comfortable to beat the heat during this heat wave. Nothing special about techniques; lots of seams and edge stitching. 🙂

  • My most recent garment and the only one I’ve made in years was a corset for my daughter to go with her Ren Faire costume. My Bernina 790 sewed like a dream and my 10D foot came in handy for sewing the binding on the edges.

  • My latest project is a bag with clear vinyl. It’s my first time using clear vinyl. Not going well as I had to remove stitches. Now I have to replace the vinyl too.

  • My most recent project was a new Sew Together bag. I love the 3 zipper pockets on the inside to keep everything I use for hand binding my quilts. I used my Bernina 735. I used the #37, #10 and #4 feet to make the bag. I quilted the outside of the bag with my #50 walking foot.
I would love to win the signed bernette 08 Straight Stitch machine!

  • My most recent garment was for my granddaughter. So happy that she loves wearing one of a kind garments. The dress I made her last was a simple cotton knit sundress using my 790 pro and my Bernina serger. She’s almost ready to start sewing herself and she loves Project Runway.
that We edit for language. I think she’ll be off to a good start. This Bernese would get her off to a good start!

  • Most recent project was summer pj’s made with overlock stitch in BERNINA L890 and spaghetti straps made on my bernina 1008. A straight stitch only machine would be so cool!

  • The last garment I made was an Easter dress for a little girl whose family is very low income. Years ago my sister cut out a bunch of clothes for her children but never got them sewed up. Because my sisters husband was in the service at that time they moved a lot so my mom ended up with a bag full of them. My mom found them one day and gave them to me to sew together. I have been doing that for the last few years between my sewing projects and giving the clothes to those in need.

  • I made a summer shirt out of three vintage tea towels and no pattern. White with old roses and touches of light blue. I get some looks but it’s really cute!

  • I have been using my 2yr old granddaughter as my muse. My latest little outfit is a tthree -piece top/pant/ jean jacket combo. The top is a cotton sunflower design. The top half is traditional bodice attached to a gathered bottom half. I used the traditional gathering stitch by expanding the stich length. I ordered the fuffler foot, but it is on back order. The back is open with two snap straps. Their is ribbon that comes from both sides of the back seam around to the front and a series of loops to create a flower bow that I sewed in place. The pants are a white cotton material with outside pockets in the same sunflower design and sewn on using a satin stich to add a design element. Their are also sunflower knee patches again sewn on using the satin stitch. The back has two make-shift sunflower patch pockets sewn on using the satin stitch. The third piece is a used jean jacket that I have embroidered various designs, and christian phrases on. It also has patches of the funflower material. It has her name with doves on either side of her name which is on the top half of the back. Her name is Grace. It looks adorable.

  • Call me crazy, but I am working on a Paper Pieced Blue Jay wall hanging, six-inch block quilt with my quilt club and am just starting the Princess Reef Seahorse MosaiQuilt, which will probably take me an entire year to complete. It just might keep me busy enough to stay out of trouble. 😉

  • Gertie’s summer outfit. I made a new outfit for the family’s porch goose. I used my Bernette B79 Ya Ya Han edition machine with the 1/4″ foot. Also used zig zag stitching to attach the elastic on the hat.

  • The entry form is not working. I keep typing my address but it tells me that I have to enter my address. I use the whole street address, town, state and zipcode and still it says that I have not entered my address.

  • Just finished a Papa Emeritus Chasuble for cosplay. I had to learn how to digitize embroidery to finish the costume. Idid the 30 day free trial. It turned out great. Now I’m hooked.

  • I made a replica of my grandmas apron. First time through was to create pattern as well as line it with light fabric so it is reversible. With notes and minimal changes, I hope to make many more as gifts. Used my 570QE and the dual feed was a great help

  • My latest garment was a dress for my niece’s wedding. It was polyester, sewed up beautifully on my Bernina Virtuosa 160. There was straight stitching, straight stretch for some areas that would stress a little, and buttonholes. Enjoyed the experience!

  • My last garment is a dress for my grand daughter, and a matching one for her bear. I sewed it using both my Bernina 535 and my Bernina L890. I love using both machines!

  • I have a baking YouTube channel and I draw comics. When I was 11 years old, I wanted to make dolls out of my comic characters. Years later, I have finally made that dream come true. I also made them each their own personalized outfits without patterns. It was a lot of fun and a challenge!

  • I just made the Woodstock skirt and vest (#20) , a Park Bench pattern. What a cool design! The pattern is old, but the design is timeless–perfect for fabric scraps and whimsy. I incorporated a few pieces of my hand marbled silk for the skirt. Park Bench has always beenhttps://weallsew.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2026/07/Screenshot-2026-07-08-171104.jpg a favorite of mine.

  • I would love to win this beautiful sewing machine. I have never won anything before and I could really use a really nice machine like this B08Bernette to sew on. I like to quilt and make handbags and I looked into this model before and it seems to be an excellent option for what I’m looking at. It would work for my projects that’s a little bit more thicker than a regular machine could handle.

  • The last garment I made was a princess (Belle) dress. I used a BERNINA 880 for the sewing and a BERNINA L890 for finishing edges and for gathering.

My young grandson is really interested in the idea of using his artistic creativity in sewing. This machine would be perfect for him to learn with!

  • I’m working on a t shirt quilt. I have 30 shirts with sashing between. I’ve broken it down to 6 sections to make quilting easier on my BERNINA B590qe. Got one last section to piece then marking for chevron design to quilt.

  • I love to sew and have been a seamstress since I was a little girl. I made most of my 3 daughters’ formals and semi-formals, most of their dresses and play clothes. I made most of my clothing as a teenager. Most recently I have enjoyed quilting. I quilt for family, friends and charity. Most recent garment has been a skirt and a dress for myself. Additionally, lately, I have made several pillows for the living room and am covering a cushion for the piano bench and the mudroom bench, as well. “It’s what I do!”

  • I just made a blessing dress for my little granddaughter. I used the stretchy stitch (number 9 on my machine). I also used the button hole foot. So nice that it remembers how big to make the button holes! I have a 350PE. I love this machine! I have made everything from a wedding dress to machine quilting a queen sized quilt.

  • I made a white dress for my granddaughter. It looked a little bland so I added pink fabric under the waistband and a two inch band along the hemline for a subtle touch of color that still kept the overall white look intact.

  • I finished a thin rayon jersey top. I love wearing this fabric in the summer, but it’s difficult to sew this slinky thin fabric.
I would love a B08 for bag making!

  • I would love a chance to win this straight stitch machine. I’ve owned nothing but Berninas since 1976!! My engineering husband chose it over 5 I brought home because of the quality of construction!! He removed the housing and examined parts and I’ve had a love affair now with Berninas for 50 years! This would be a great addition to my workshop!

  • I just recently moved from California to Washington state. My 790Plus came with me in the car, not with the movers, and was one of the first things I unpacked. I keep all my feet in the Bernina organizers so they were right there ready to sew. It took me a little longer to unpack my fabric but I am starting on grommet drapes for the new guest room. I love to make wallets and bags and the Bernette 08 would be a nice machine to make them out of lamb or faux leather.

  • I enjoy sewing garments, bags and home decor. My latest make is a lined denim jacket. It was mostly sewn with my B435, which makes perfect buttonholes. I used so many different feet for this project: #1, #34, #8 and my all time favorite for perfect edgestitching, #10. I also set up my vintage 1010 for topstitching so that I wouldn’t have to keep changing needle type and thread going from seaming to topstitching. I overlocked all the lining seam allowances to avoid fraying with my Bernette 006D, which has been my faithful serger for 30 years and is still going strong. The jacket is almost finished, just waiting on some colorful snaps to arrive. In the meantime I’m going to start on a blouse because I always have a project in the works!

  • I am retired and do not sew for fashion so much. I am in Process of making a dress for my Granddaughters first day of school. I mostly work on small Projects for SewPowerful Purse Project. Lately I am making Purse Flaps for purses- these purses give the girls “girl days” able to continue school. This is a great charity for girls 13 and up. I recently found out some people are teaching girls to sew purses for more and more girls in Africa can have an education . Well worth the need.

  • I love to sew dresses and quilts! My latest dress is Rifle Paper floral cotton. I like to make all the seams enclosed in French seams, so that is probably my favorite technique. I sew on a Bernina 770 QE and love how strong and accurate it is! I made my first dress at 11, and for the last 10 years I’ve used mostly Vogue patterns. I have also made quilts since 2013, and I love learning more of how to do this every day.

  • My latest ‘make’ is a gathered 3 tier skirt to wear to work since the weather is still super hot! I bought fabric from a group of women in India that formed a collective and use block printing techniques for their patterns. The fabric is light weight and beautiful.

  • After frustration with modern blue jeans not fitting, especially falling down after wearing a while, I tried making my own. My pattern has an elastic waist and cargo pockets. I used denim without added stretch. My machine is Bernina 380. I especially enjoyed the ease of changing feet to suit each aspect of creating these pants. I am very happy with how my project turned out!

  • I Love Project Runway and am enjoying this season’s show, especially the Judges!
I really like hearing their different perspectives, even when it gets a little feisty . Winning this Signed Machine would be absolutely Fabulous! My latest garment make was a simple woven t-top. I used my Bernina 735 sewing machine and a serger. I added 1″ to the length and finished the neckline with bias binding that went on really well and lays nicely. I used the standard foot and the #10 edgestitch foot for this garment (the edgestitch foot is one of favorites). The top was made with a rayon batik and turned out very nice. I am really pleased with this pattern and have a second one in the queue. It’s a lovely summer top. 🙂
My next garment make will be some retro pajamas with contrast piping. I recently purchased the #38 piping foot, so I am ready to try it out.
