BERNINA L 890 Garment Sew Along with Grainline Studio, Part 5: Woven Airy Top
Welcome back to Day 5 of the L 890 Airy Top & Comfy Dress Garment Sew Along. Today is a big day, it’s the day we start sewing! In today’s video, I’ll be showing you how to sew up the Airy Top in your woven fabric.
We’ll be using three stitches to sew up this top – the 5-thread combo stitch, the 4-thread overlock, and the chainstitch. I love garment construction and I hope you see just how easy it is to complete your own woven top! Our next lesson will be sewing up this same top but in your knit fabric and I think it’s really fun to compare and contrast not only the fabrics, but also the sewing process and stitches used for each fabrication. So stay tuned for that and in the meantime enjoy wearing your new Airy Top!
If you’re sewing along with us, we’d love to have you tag us on social media! Use the tags #L890SewAlong #BerninaAirytop or #BerninaComfyDress and tag @berninausa and @grainlinestudio so we can see what you’re up to!

Unfortunately I can’t point you to a page in the manual, but it’s Combo stitch #17

I get it now. Does not say 5-thread stitch. Stitch #17 states 3-Thread Overlock (LN) + Chainstitch (RC). So, that is two needles and all 3 loopers. Hence, 5 thread. So is Stitch #18 a 5 thread stitch.

What number is the 5-thread stitch? And, did you use stitch #16 2-Thread Chainstitch for the hem?

Unfortunately I can’t point you to a page in the manual as the machine I have is from the development phase, but on the machine it’s under the Combo folder, stitch #17 3-Thread Overlock (LN) + Chainstitch (RC). It uses all 5-threads.

Also yep #16 for the hem.

How do you set up a 5-thread stitch? I cannot find one in the manual.
