Diamonds Quilt Along, Part 4: Diamonds
HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome back to the Diamonds Quilt Along! I’m BERNINA Expert Amanda Murphy and this month we will complete our Diamonds Quilt by quilting the diamonds themselves. (It isn’t the end of our quilt along though, because I’ll be back next month to show you how to piece a smaller quilt and pillow with the scraps!) Quilting the Framework of Each Diamond
I began each diamond by quilting a framework with my Every Angle Ruler. I used Aurifil 2214 on both of the orange diamonds, Aurifil 2886 on the green diamond, and Aurifil 2110 on the Apple (light yellow/green) diamond. Note that the Q Series bobbins are huge so I’d recommend only winding a partial bobbin so that you don’t run out of thread for the top. Also, I like to stack two of the smaller spools on the thread stand on the Q Series so the thread flows freely off the top of the spool.
From there I quilted each color of diamond differently (so I quilted two of each design in total). But you could also choose to do all four diamonds identically with your favorite variation of these designs.

Hello I’ve finished my Diamond Quilt along! I’m very happy with it in-spite of all my errors. I’ve learned a lot. I still have trouble moving smoothly the quilt on my Q16 but I’ll keep trying!
