Maggie Tank Top Sew Along, Part 1
Welcome and thank you for joining my Maggie Tank Top Sew Along! The Maggie is a basic, fitted tank top made with knit fabric and perfect for these hot summer days! For this project, you will need knit fabric with at least 20% two-way stretch.
The Maggie tank is from Sonia Estep Designs and you can download it for FREE in her Facebook group. This sew along will be broken down into two posts. This first post will walk through measuring ourselves, picking our sizes, basic grading of our pattern, and cutting out of our pattern and fabric. The second day will be the construction of our tank top. Are you ready to sew yourself an amazing new tank top? Let’s get started!
Step 1: Measuring and Choosing Your Sizes
To measure and choose our sizes you will need a measuring tape and something to jot down your measurements with. You can find the size chart for this pattern in the instructions on page four.
Step 2: Grading and Cutting Out Your Pattern
Now that we have measured and know what sizes we need, we can print our pattern and do our grading! You can find a video on assembling pdf patterns here if they are new to you. Grab your assembled pattern, a marker, a quilting ruler or a straight edge, scissors, and your fabric for grading your pattern and cutting out your pattern pieces.
You should now have all your pieces cut out and we are ready to sew our tank tops! Check out my next post for the video on sewing your tank top. I will be using my bernette 64 serger and bernette 77 sewing machine and will be showing you how to hem and topstitch with a double needle!
If you’re sewing along with us, we’d love to have you tag us on social media! Tag @bernetteusa or @therabbitthutchsews so we can see what you’re up to!
