Quick and Easy Playful Petals
It’s finally finished! This is a quilt from the book Playful Petals by Corey Yoder. I made the cover quilt out of a layer cake in my stash. And here’s why I love Designworks Software and my Jumbo Hoop: I digitized the petal AND the stitching, cut bunches at a time, and then made the block in my Jumbo Hoop.
Here are some pictures showing the cutting and the stitching.
I cut eight layers of petals at a time using the CutWork Tool. Some would say it was really 16 layers since each piece had HeatnBond FeatherLite already applied.
ALL of the completed petals.
I took my squares outside to my driveway and placed on some towels. Then I sprayed Terial Magic No Fray Fabric Stiffener on them and let them dry (which was fast in the Arizona sunshine!). I just did a light spray, as I didn’t need the fabric to be board stiff, just a little stiff.
A quick press with the iron as I added the Heat and Bond and I was ready to go. The layer cake squares fit nicely in the jumbo hoop.
In-the-hoop blanket stitch applique!
The finished block.
Pieced, quilted, and bound – done!
