Holiday Stocking Name Tags

Hello everyone! The winter holidays are going to be here before we know it! Customization can be a lot of help and fun during these times. And the stockings look great above a warm lit fireplace full of candy canes and nicknacks. This simple project took me an hour or so to complete per name. Who doesn’t love a quick project? 

Supplies to Create Holiday Stocking Name Tags

• One 6×8 piece of green felt
• Tear-away stabilizer
• Small BERNINA Hoop
• Isacord Embroidery Thread – Red
• Basic sewing supplies

Now that you have everything together it is time to get started! First things first, insert the name into the BERNINA software with the font of your choosing.

I love the Bodoni font. It has just enough fun in it and still looks very professional. 

I sized mine in the small BERNINA hoop to as large as I could make it.

Next, you will want to get it to your machine.

I find it easiest to save to a .exp file. But the BERNINA software gives us lots of options. 

Now it’s time to get the machine and hoop ready.

I have found it easiest to use a tear-away stabilizer.

Once you get everything into your machine add a placement stitch.

I like to float my fabrics. This means that you do NOT hoop the fabrics. You simply let them “float” on top of the stabilizer. I find that it does not pucker as much.

 I chose green felt and red thread that matched our stockings. There are so many other options though! 

This is what mine looked like once I got everything sewn.

I made it look like a holiday present name tag so here is how I lined it up to cut it.

The last thing to do is attach the nametag to the stocking.

I attached the name tag to each stocking with a cute red little button. 

This was the perfect project to have everything labeled for the holidays!
