My favorite type of embroidery is applique and red work. I love applique because the fabric that you use can dramatically change the look of any design. The same applique design can be plain, fun, fancy, or cute, depending on the type, pattern, and texture of the fabric used, and thus can appeal to different ages, sexes, or just be unisex. An applique design can be used for different holidays using the fabric that pertains to a certain holiday, and they are usually quicker to stitch out. Red work designs are a favorite ,because they are so quick to stitch out, can be used on a variety type of fabrics, and are great designs to stitch on card stock for personalized cards.
