Stardust Quilt-along: Multi Hooping and Pinpoint Placement

Hi. I’m BERNINA Expert Amanda Murphy and I wanted to show you how I use Pinpoint Placement (a great feature on top-of-the-line BERNINAs) in conjunction with multi hooping to embroider large designs.

I’ll be using my Celestial Lights Embroidery Panel and BERNINA Exclusive Celestial Lights Embroidery Collection as an examples.

This collection contains several large designs, in addition to the smaller designs that are featured in the Stardust quilt. The largest stars in the collection fit in a Maxi Hoop, but for the largest Medallions only fit in a Jumbo hoop. So I also included files so that you could multi-hoop similar medallions using smaller hoops, Pinpoint Placement, and the alignment marks on the Embroidery Panel. We’ll be using Medallion 2 as an example.

Stardust Quilt-along: large medallion in a block

I multi-hooped this large medallion in a block from the panel design using my Medium embroidery hoop (for the central motif) and Large Oval embroidery hoop (for the quadrant designs around the edge of the circle) and Pinpoint Placement.
